(*I received a copy of The Last Dance by Kiki Hamiltion in exchange for an honest review. I'm not a paid reviewer. These thoughts are my own*)
The Last Dance was an absolutely fun, upbeat, loving and little heartbreaking story. I found myself captured in the story. I felt how the characters truly felt for each other.
In The Last Dance the story is told in a two person POV ( which I loved..) The chapters switch back an forth between Ivy and Kellen. Ivy is a straight A student who excels at everything and doesnt have the option to fail. Her parent want her to be a doctor and so they push her to be the best so she can excel to get into the best college. Although she would rather do something else then be a Doctor she still tries to please her parents. Enter in Kellen one the most popular kids around school, big hotshot at almost every sport there is, and he to feels like he has the pressure of needing to be a football star. Except all that changes the night of the homecoming football game. Things seem to take a drop for Kellen, His dream of becoming a football star are practically over. With what feels like no hope left he pushes himself to become a better/faster football star then he was before, although now he has limitation...One limitation is he need a tutor to help him catch up on his class after his accident.
Ivy is asked to tutor Kellen. At first they are both someone what bitter to each other and really don't want to be in that situation but they soon become friends which turns into something a little more. I truly enjoy The Last Dance and I think my favorite scene is the Paris scene ( trust me you need to read it an find out..so freaking sweet!) Ivy and Kellen are meant for each other. Together they are better...Kellen is so freaking cute..arg! I love it that Kiki calls to attention serious brain injuries that can come from playing football. Not that I love that fact of the brain Injuries, I just love the fact of making people aware. I probably now will not let my boys play football..maybe they be in marching band instead.
All in all I loved The Last Dance. Such a wonderful read. If you need a fast, easy, fun read with a bit of drama this is the book for you! It's a must read!!
LOVED IT!!
