Runes

Author: Ednah Walters
Publisher: Firetrail Publishing
Release Date: May 20th 2013

Synposis from Goodreads:

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

Holy Runes! Where do I start? Well maybe I should start off with the best part of the book and those of you who have gotten a chance to read would all agree that the best part is Torin. Torin is Raine's very sexy new neighbor. He push all her buttons and she feel at time that she hates him but at the same time is drawn to him. She cant seem to stay away from him ( and I'm not complaining that she can't.) He seems to have all the answers but yet she is stubborn and wont seek the answers.

Runes is about Norse mythology instead the normal Greek mythology so many write about. The way Ednah wrote the characters and mythological story-line kept me wanting more, It was a page turner. I especially love any and all scenes with Torin. I love the cute nickname he gives Raine. I love how sexy he is on his motorcycle. I most definitely LOVE the way he treats Raine. He says the most sweetest things to her.

Throughout the story there were a few typo's and missing word in ARC book I have but it didn't ruin it for me( By the time Runes is out they probably will be fixed). No Siree! I enjoyed Runes front to back. I only wish now I could have Immortals ( which is the 2nd book- but there is no release date up yet.)

Anyways back to Torin...*cough* I mean to Runes. The story-line had a lot of friendship, loyalty, love, and even some evil dudes. Mix that all together and you have one AWESOME book! Runes story-line flow well together and didn't leave me confuse. The ending of this book is a cliff hanger and it is driving me nuts! I loved the ending but I also hated it.(hate in a good way..lol)By that I mean it was a really good ending but now i'm suffering having to wait for book two but it will be well worth the wait.

I would recommend this book to teen and adults who like YA (romance, mythological stories)I give this story 5 Stars( and if I knew how to post the cool little stars I would.)

A Few Favorite Quotes

"My Face is up here, freckles." ~ Torin

"You're welcome." he said. "Bite me." I hurried away, hating the sticky, wet blood on my skin. ~ Torin & Raine

I want to thank Netgalley for providing a ARC and letting me review Runes! I also want to thank Ednah for writing such a wonderful book and creating character's I enjoyed. Lastly Thank you to anyone who read this! It means a lot that you would take the time to read my review!

  1. Ohh this book sounds really interesting! I'm always up for something a little different! Norse mythology? I can't say I've read anything with the basis of Norse mythology. Definitely adding this to my TBR list!

  2. This sounds really good! But the cover is REALLY deceptive; it looks like from Ellora's Cave. :-(
