Title- TWISTED SUMMER
Author- LUCY V MORGAN
Release Date- April 2013

Twisted Summer
Synopsis from Goodreads:

A dark New Adult romance

You have to understand that we never meant for it to happen. We knew it was stupid. We knew it was wrong.

Eighteen-year-old Danni Warren has big plans for her last summer before college: a cool job, a concert she wouldn’t miss for the world, and spending time with her beautiful girlfriend, Esme. But after one hell of an argument, Danni’s mother packs her off to stay with her estranged step-uncle, Gabe, in his lodge on the English coast. So begins a weekend of the worst punishment imaginable: no phone signal.

With his sun kissed good looks and sarcastic manner, twenty-nine-year-old Gabe Asher isn’t anything like Danni expected. She wants to hate him—he’s her punishment for standing up to her mother—but between surfing lessons and beach hikes, Gabe and Danni grow close. Maybe too close.

Now Danni’s questioning everything: old family secrets, her future, her strained relationship with Esme. One sun stained afternoon, Gabe and Danni go too far. And then everything else falls apart…

About the Author

Lucy writes sharp contemporary fiction, usually with a liberal splatter of filth. She is a Lyrical Press author and a screenwriter.

Her upcoming new adult novel, TWISTED SUMMER, is a gutsy take on forbidden love starring an even gutsier heroine.

Her contemporary series, encompassing CHAIRMAN OF THE WHORED and THE WHORED'S PRAYER, features slick London lawyers with a penchant for sensual violence. It's definitely on the darker side. BEAUTIFUL MESS, her current release, is a snarky, sexy friends-to-lovers romp.

Lucy is currently working on new novels, and is developing a paranormal television series with producers (think The Vampire Diaries meets The 4400).

She is still trying to kick her dirty Pepsi habit.

I'm so excited! I was lucky enough to be able to send my top 10 question's to Lucy and have her answer them! Are you ready for some fun? Ready. Set. Read! :)

1.When and why did you decide to be a  writer?
I'm sure most writers say this, but I started very young. I wrote books as a child, as a teenager (in fact in high school, I wrote a TERRIBLE spoof period drama series starring my friends. If I fell out with someone then I'd make them marry a troll...or their brother...). Writing has always felt very natural to me, but I never guessed I'd get to do it professionally.

2.What do you think is the hardest part when writing a book?
For me, it's accepting my own voice. I don't write strict "genre" books and that used to frustrate me, but I've embraced it now.

3.Do you have any advice for other writers?
As above--don't try to be something you aren't. There's a lot of pressure to fit into a box as an author; if you can figure out how to market yourself correctly, you don't have to do that. The other thing I'd suggest is to read outside of your genre for inspiration. "Hot" genres get stale quickly if the titles are repetitive.

4. Are you currently working on any new projects?
I'm working on another new adult novel. This one is set at a university, so the heroine is a little older than Danni. It doesn't have a title yet, but it's very much about that moment when a young woman decides to take her life back from a dark place. The hero is probably one of the first genuinely good guys I've ever written. No bad boys in this one. They draw the line at being moderately cheeky ;)

5.What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
I've had all sorts of criticism, phrased in all sorts of ways(!). One incidence that springs to mind was when I sent a WiP to a friend of mine who's a writer and producer. We were looking for projects to work on together. He normally gushed over my stuff but with this one, his response just said, "I think we both know this isn't your best work." And I suppose since it was about a boy who poops the future (his name was Future Brown), he may have had a point. Ahem. The way he phrased it amused me because I'm sure he wanted to say far more than that...
The best compliments I have are when people tell me they couldn't put the book down. One reader said she'd called in sick to work to finish my books. Naughty, but the best compliment an author can get, hehe.

6.How did you come up with the storyline for Twisted Summer?
Good question. I'm trying to remember! I like playing with "men in authority" characters but I was a bit bored of all the usual BDSM type tropes. I also knew I wanted to write a younger heroine., and I liked--in a perverse way--the idea of a jaded guy abusing his position of trust because he just can't help himself.

7.What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write in Twisted Summer and why?
Spoiler ahead!
I spent the whole project working up to the scene where Danni and Gabe are caught out, so it was incredibly satisfying to write. I love me some drama.

8. Will there be a sequel to Twisted Summer ?
I'm not sure yet. I always write in the same "universe," so if I don't write a sequel, the Twisted Summer characters are bound to pop up in another of my books.

9. Tweet Alert! In 140 words or less, tell us about Twisted Summer?
A reviewer called it "dark but funny, cute but twisted," and I think that sums it up well.

10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you! I love hearing from you all, and I think about readers a lot as I write.
Also, Aidan says hi.
